Fuck Bannon, Fuck tRump, We've Got To Flush That Dump

Nice job, Miles ;0)
I want this on a t-shirt, STAT. It'll get me kicked out of fewer places than my original "FUCK tRUMP" design. Still looking for the artist - if you have the image with the name still visible, shoot me an email, neh?

Signs O' The Times - Finding Miles & Snooze At The Women's March

If you're going to the Women's March in Charlotte tomorrow, Jan 21st, you can probably find Miles and me by our signs easier than anything else:

Be safe, be smart, be sane, guys. Don't give anyone an excuse to shut you down, and if someone tries to manufacture an excuse, get documentation if you can. It's not a bad idea to go over the ACLU's handy cheat sheet about laws and rights regarding protests and public gatherings, either. See ya there (throws good luck)

Can't March? Virtual March!

THIS is what real unity looks like. Making it possible for people who can't quite go for Plan A to still be counted.

Just had surgery for knee replacement? Juggling chronic pain? Can't get off from work? Live really far away from any of the events? If you want to go to the Women's March on Washington or one of the local versions of it, but health, mobility, or other snafus are in the way, you can add your voice to the chorus of people who want to remind the incoming "administration" (or whatever the hell you wanna call the shitshow we're getting) that the people tRump and many of his followers have told to sit down and shut up aren't going away. Hit the link for the Virtual March and you can include yourself and make a statement on why the march is important to you.

Yeah, I know, the incoming admin doesn't give a damn. We're not going to change their minds with marches or protests. It doesn't matter. What matters is making it harder for them to say "everyone supports us and likes us, there's only a handful who don't". And letting the people they're trying to put in second class citizen boxes (or leave them with no box at all)know that they aren't alone. And letting the rest of the world know that no, all of the US does NOT support the bullying, bigotry, and rising swamp water they're seeing take power.

See ya there, one way or another ;0)

Women's March On Washington Not Just For Women Or Washington

On Saturday January 21st, those of us in the Charlotte NC area that wish we could be at the Women's March on Washington DC but can't will be at the local version of the march.

Why are we marching? Because on January 20th, we're going to see a culmination and a sort of validation of social trends toward bigotry, bullying, scapegoating, and revisionism in the inauguration of tRump.

The people he's putting in power along with him and the people who follow them regardless of what they do (or worse, because of what they do) need to be reminded that the rest of us aren't going to give up and shut up. We're not going to sit quietly with out hands in our laps and let that crowd make the cultural shift they're driving the national new normal. And the people who are feeling seriously under threat right now need to know that they aren't just walking targets for their misplaced fear and anger.

If you're in the Concord/Kannapolis general area and want a ride, let me know. You can call or text me if you have the number, or email me here, or tag me via Miles' FB page. I'll work out times to meet/pick up when I have an idea of how many peeps are going.

It's called the Women's march because it started as a grass roots protest against tRump's treatment of women and the ongoing NeoCon effort to roll back gains in women's right to be counted as people. But equality for so many groups is under threat from the incoming administration and the people that are supporting it; we need to make it an all for one, one for all thing. Come be counted with us, not just as a supporter of women's rights, but as a supporter of common humanity.

Tilikum, Not Just Black & White

Sedna, Arnakuagsak, Mother of the Sea, receive your son Tilikum with honor, and please let his next life be much, much happier. (wish goes out)

We'll probably never know with certainty what he meant by some of his behavior. Many animals I've worked with have no real awareness of how big or strong they are compared to a human, and frankly, I have days when I feel like banging people's heads on the wall myself. So I can't judge someone I can't even talk to.

We do know that the way orcas in captivity are kept, even those whose lives have depended on human intervention and rescue measures and who have led us to greater ability to help, has to be reevaluated and changed. Tilikum has been a huge catalyst for that to happen.

May orcas and humans both profit in knowledge and action by that, and make any portion of his life that was troubling for him not be in vain.

I have no right or place to speak for Dawn Brancheau, but I'm willing to venture that she wouldn't have a problem with me wishing for them both that spirit to spirit, the obstacles of language and speech won't matter any more. If either of you can make us wiser about those that have no words we can hear clearly yet, send it on down the line. Fair journeying to all of you.

So You Bought An AR-15 From A Nine Year Old For $20?

How slagging stupid do you have to be?

These are not my people . . . .

"No charges will be brought against the 9-year-old since police believe this is an isolated incident. “We do not believe this juvenile is connected with any selling of firearms other than this incident", Major Keith Eury said."

 . . . . . . . .
 . . . . . . . . . . . .
 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  well goddamn, son, ya think??! Bless your heart, if for no other reason than that shur thang, dealers sell AR-15s for $20 all day long . . . .

Sorry, I just couldn't come up with a shorter, catchier, or more encompassing headline that really expressed sufficient overall WTAFness . . . . fracking hell, I live here . . . .

On the flip side, I'm feeling pretty good about the last three or four acts of dumbass I committed now . . .
